I did a photo shoot for Jim Dandy Fried Chicken in Los Angeles this week and had a great time working with the new owner. It was a greasy shoot and I had to be careful. I wore gloves and made sure not to get my camera messy! I was styling and shooting and the owner approved the shots as I photographed them. Photographing fast food can be difficult because many fast food restaurants, and packaged foods for that matter, don't allow you to use garnishes or any items that are not included with the food. Often times you have to solely rely on your styling, lighting and retouching skills to make the food look appetizing.
The photograph of greens above was enhanced with plenty of strobe lighting and some retouching to get the color just right. The photograph of the sweet dish was shot using that paper underneath at the request of the owner so I made it look as artsy and tasty as possible. It was definitely a win for this photo shoot because I am getting hungry retouching the photos! Even though I try my best to not get excited about fast food. I will be eating a juicy tangerine now and some beets so take that fast food cravings!
