I traveled from Los Angeles recently to my hometown of Detroit. It was for the second wedding reception of my brother, he was married abroad and my parents wanted to throw him a party here in the US for his friends and family unable to attend his wedding. It was quite the event filled with the usual chaos of inviting 300 people to a backyard party but was of course filled with plenty of happy moments. It was fun to be with my family.
I was born and raised in Metro Detroit. When I turned 27 I moved to New York City for 7 years and then to Los Angeles. I can honestly say I missed LA! My Angeleno husband, Dan, said "It only took 6 years", but hey, some places are not as easy to love, AND we've been homeowners in Los Angeles for 2 years now. It is home for our family of 3 and I feel so lucky because it is a great place to be. (Yes, I've been reading waaaaay too much Dr. Seuss with my one-year-old daughter ;)
